On 354.7 sq . km in the generous Burgas lowland is located Kameno municipality . Its administrative center town of Kameno is located at 20 km distance to the west from Burgas .
For the first time Kameno is mentioned in Turkish historical documents 250 years ago as Kayali – literal translation of Kameno ( or Kamenitsa ). It was called so till 1934. During the feudal epoch there was a farm in the village , in which worked mainly Bulgarian stock-breeders . On the eve of Liberation the farm was bought by the rich Greek trader Zafiropulos , and after the Liberation the farm lands were bought by Bulgarian traders and landowners . Here settled many Bulgarians from the Stara Zagora villages . The number of residents increased much more after building of the sugar production factory at 2 km distance to the north from the village in 1914, around which it was found a working-class quarter .
The territory is located in the plain part of Southeastern Bulgaria , along the lower course of Aytoska River . Its altitude is from 20 to 45 meters .
Climate
The Burgas lowlands , in which Kameno municipality is located , are characterized as a separate climatic region in the Black sea climatic sub-area in the system of continental-Mediterranean climatic area . Typical for the region are lasting and soft summer and low quantity of summer rains .
Soils
The soils on the territory are mainly leached chernozem pitch and at lower extent - alluvial - meadow and sandy - clayed .
Mineral resources
On the territory of the municipality there are located inert materials sonly . Next to the village of Konstantinovo exist three sand - pits , and next to the village of Cherni vrah – gravel and fraction pits .
Water resources
More significant water lines in the municipality are the rivers Aytosska, Rusokastrenska , Chekarliyka etc . Their total length is 45 km . The micro dam lakes and water basins are 27 numbers . The area of the rivers is 420 decares , of the dam lakes , water basins and canals - 5123 decares , of lakes - 2715 decares , of marshes and sloughs - 679 decares , of breeding-pools - 340 decares .
Protected areas
In proximity to the town of Kameno , along the river valley of Aytoska river , is located the protected area Koriyata , representing woods of field elm with area of 150 decares .
Flora and fauna
In the composition of the vegetation zone basically included are the higher plants . Widely spread is the cultural types of wheat , barley , maize , beans , potatoes , vegetables, etc .
The animal variety of species , occupying the territory is small mainly presented by various types of birds, rodents, etc .
Forest fund
The forest massifs occupy a small part of the territory . They have total area of 18104 decares , mainly broad-leaved woods .
The municipality includes 13 populated places – the municipal center town of Kameno and the villages Krastina , Vinarsko , Vratitsa , Troyanovo , Zhelyazovo , Rusokastro , Livada , Trastikovo , Konstantinovo , Polski izvor , Cherni vrah , Svoboda . Town of Kameno is of ²V -th functional type .
The area of urbanized territories is 16542 decares .

A great part of the dwellings in the villages are used on seasonal bases as villa buildings .

À center of culture , traditions and alert spirit of local residents is library club “ Education ”. It was established in 1927 and by decision of the Burgas District Court it is registered in the register of non - profit associations for indefinite period of existence together with branches in the villages of Krastina , Vinarsko , Troyanovo , Rusokastro , Konstantinovo , Trastikovo , Polski izvor , Livada . It is awarded the order of “ Cyril and Methody ”. Its pride is the folklore group - laureate on the fair in Koprivshtitsa , the children's dance ensemble “ Zdravets ” and the children's vocal group “ Tick - tack ”.
To the library club in the town of Kameno and its branches operate libraries with total library fund of 83256 volumes and 2054 readers .
In library club “ Education ” there is organized permanent ethnographic exposition of things of customs , granted by the residents of the municipality .
There are two masters of folk instruments in the town – Georgi Slavov ( kavals and bagpipes ) and Ilyo Ivanov ( rebecks ).
The children ' s dance ensemble “ Zdravets ” was established in 1972. It consists of children up to 14 years of age . There are three formations to the ensemble - youth , children's and school of folk dances and folk instruments . Its repertoire includes songs and dances from all ethnographic fields of Bulgaria , lots of rituals are scenically reproduced . A special place is determined to the Kameno region .
From its creation up to nowadays the ensemble has presented many concerts in Kameno municipality , it has taken a successful part in competitions and festivals in the country and abroad - France (1995 and 1997), island of Sicily (1997), Republic of Greece (1999 and 2000), Republic of Turkey (2001), Italy (2001). For its participation in the festival in Kampordzhano – Italy in July there is an opened Internet page .
The creative manifestations of children ' s vocal group “ Tick - tack ” are connected with concert tours in our country and abroad - Switzerland , Yugoslavia , UAR . Deserved recognition of the talent and skills of participants are first prize at III -rd musical festival “ Children's disc ” and the special prize of IV –th world musical festival in Johannesburg . During the over decade existence the group has issued a long-playing record and audiocassettes , recorded at the Bulgarian Radio and Bulgarian TV .
On the territory of Kameno municipality there are three licensed and effective sports clubs – football club “ Kameno ”, participant in “” football group , football club " Rusokastro " and chess club “ Kameno ”, which carry out sports training process .
